A Bollywood actor’s firing case has got a major turn after Mumbai’s Crime Branch has arrested a Haryana-based 22-year old woman. According to media reports, she was arrested on 1 November 2026 , in the presence of local police in Karnal district in the name of Subeha Pandit. Her arrest adds to the list of 13 people who have been accused with three women. Investigators are probing her suspected involvement and potential connections to the network they believe was involved in the attack. The investigation is still underway and it is unclear if any of the people arrested have been charged in court.
The incident of firing took place on October 18 when unidentified gunmen opened fire on Shroff’s car as he was leaving a football ground in Mumbai’s Juhu area. The attackers fired five shots, report the media. The actor walked away without apparent serious injuries and the driver of the car and a bystander were reportedly injured. The shooting incident sparked a major investigation by the Mumbai Crime Branch, which is trying to find out who all were involved, including possibly the alleged shooters, the person or persons who might have provided weapons, transport or financial assistance.
The arrest has come at the heels of another accused named Amar who was arrested in the Sonipat district of the Haryana state. He was sent to Mumbai and remanded to police custody till November 6. Officials are reportedly reviewing financial details of the accused and possible connections between them to gain insights into the source of the money to establish the alleged operation. The investigation has been extended to multiple sites such as Rajasthan, Delhi and Haryana, signifying the potential geographical spread of the investigation. However, it is a matter of evidence and procedure to establish the exact part that each of the accused played.
A significant event was the use of the provisions of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) by authorities in the case on October 27. The law offers guidelines for investigation of alleged organised crime. Lawrence Bishnoi gang members have allegedly taken the blame for the attack, leading to the exploration of a gang connection. Such statements do not on their own prove that someone ordered, or was personally involved in, the killing. The suspected conspiracy, communications, finances and the supply chain of weapons are still being investigated to determine what happened and if the suspects were in some sort of collusion.
The spotlight is now on authorities to find out what happened in the chain of events surrounding the shooting, and who is allegedly responsible. While the arrest in Karnal is one step in the investigation, there are a number of questions that remain unanswered, including the planning, the motive, and the potential support network behind the attack. The Mumbai Crime branch is still investigating the case, and more details could come out as the investigation and related legal proceedings take place. The allegations against an accused person should be treated as allegations not as a proof or a finding of guilt until they have been tested in court for proof.
