Pathaan: Shah Rukh Khan is making his return to the big screen after a 4-year break with Pathaan. The movie stars Salman Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham too, which makes it an even bigger event. On top of that, SRK is working with director Siddharth Anand, known for action thrillers like War and Bang Bang.
Pathaan is part of Yash Raj Film’s Spy Universe, connecting it to Salman’s Tiger franchise and Hrithik Roshan’s Kabir movies. There’s already a lot of buzz around Pathaan at the box office. With how much hype it has, the movie is expected to break opening records. I guess we’ll have to see if SRK makes a successful comeback with this one!
Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, John Abraham Dimple Kapadia, Ashutosh Rana, Salman Khan, Viraf Patel and others.
Pathaan Movie Story
Pathaan is set to expand Yash Raj Films’ spy universe that was previously led by Salman Khan’s Tiger and Hrithik Roshan’s Kabir. The film will tell the origin story of Pathaan, played by Shah Rukh Khan.
Pathaan used to be an elite special forces commando in the Indian Army. However, after a mission goes wrong, he is discharged from service. But his skills are too valuable not to be used. He is recruited by India’s external intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing or RAW, to work as an undercover agent on highly sensitive missions abroad.
Pathaan will be going up against a formidable opponent – John Abraham, who plays the role of the international terrorist Jim. Jim is a cunning and merciless villain who will prove to be Pathaan’s toughest challenge yet. Their epic clash is sure to be the highlight of the film.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, Pathaan also stars Deepika Padukone. This will mark Shah Rukh Khan’s first action film in years and his presence is expected to take the spy thriller genre to an all-new level. Fans can’t wait to see King Khan pull off high-octane stunts and action sequences when the film releases on January 25th, 2023 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. With its larger-than-life scale and a superstar cast, Pathaan aims to be the biggest event film of the year.
Pathaan Movie Direction and Music
Siddharth Anand has always had a great eye for what audiences want to see and he delivers on that front with Pathaan. He’s grown since War and it seems Yash Raj Films is really finding their stride with him at the helm. While not everything works, the highs overshadow any lows. From borrowing the “fingerprint through honey trap” idea from Fast Five to turning a scene into a trippy driving game, Sid aims to make everything as cool as possible regardless of originality.
The background score by Sanchit and Ankit Balhara shows how films of this scale should be treated. War also benefited from their talents and their hit-making continues. Special shout-out to “Besharm Rang” – the dhol-fueled interlude adds major style points. Best of all, “Jhoome Jo Pathaan” enhances the viewing experience without interrupting the flow.
Pathaan 2023 Movie Review
Hey guys, I just saw the new Pathaan movie and wanted to tell you about it. SRK is back in action mode and it was awesome to see him kicking butt again!
The story follows a secret agent named Pathaan who is super patriotic and always puts his country first. Even though he’s getting older, he still has what it takes to take down the bad guys. When a rogue agent named Jim starts working with the Pakistanis to hurt India, Pathaan puts together his old crew to stop them.
They go all over the world chasing down clues and getting into crazy fights and car chases. Along the way, Pathaan meets an ISI agent named Rubina. At first, you can’t tell if she’s friend or foe because she keeps her plans close to the vest. But eventually, she decides to help Pathaan out.

The movie moves super fast from one exciting scene to the next. You never get bored because there’s always something blowing up or someone getting punched in the face. SRK was born for this role – he looks so cool doing all these action scenes. But he also adds his signature humor to lighten things up at the perfect moments.
The writers did an amazing job blending the action with SRK’s charisma. He has the best one-liners that make you laugh out loud. Pathaan is a total crowd-pleaser that I think anyone can enjoy. SRK fans will especially love seeing him kick butt on the big screen again after so long. I definitely recommend checking it out!
Instead of vilifying any particular religion or country, the writers of Pathaan present a world where terrorism has been commercialized and mercenaries are available to the highest bidder. This color-blind enemy that puts profit over people is what the controversial song Besharam Rang hints at. More importantly, the film explores what nationalism truly means – how we view our country, like our mother or lover.
As in classic spy thrillers, the writers give the unnamed villain a compelling backstory to understand his motives, while allowing the hero to stop his evil plans. They skillfully blend the personal and political realms. For example, the Pakistani General plotting against India is battling cancer. Geopolitics in the narrative omit mentions of the US but portray Russia as a crucial ally, as Pathaan finds his identity on a mission in Afghanistan. It also avoids painting all Pakistanis the same, distinguishing political interests from a global crisis.
Director Siddharth creates strong female characters like Dimple Kapadia’s imposing boss who separates duty from emotion. And Deepika portrays a nuanced shade of gray caught between good and evil. She dazzles yet takes risks, with sizzling chemistry alongside Shah Rukh that threatens to ignite the screen.
The affair between an Indian and Pakistani agent recalls the Tiger series, fueling insider jokes that continue Veer Zara’s gender themes. Salman Khan’s cameo adds fun for fans, though more scenes between these stars would be great.
John Abraham delivered one of his best performances recently, proving a formidable opponent for Shah Rukh. Beyond physique, he brings a refreshing air of cool.
Rather than politics, the makers focus on breathtaking action across all modes of transport. While ahead of Bollywood, some CGI feels disjointed, and logic gaps confuse. Unexpected resolutions and generic Hollywood-esque scenes disappoint.
While the action takes priority, Siddharth risks leaving emotions hanging. Thankfully, the stars’ charisma makes up for the lack of emotional core. As a scientist notes – science is easy, love is hard.
Performances
Wow, Shah Rukh Khan absolutely killed it in this movie! Whether it was action scenes or romantic moments, he owned the screen. Deepika Padukone was smokin’ hot too – she looked gorgeous as always. But her role was about more than just looks, she really moved the story forward with some big plot twists. Her character reminded me a bit of Scarlett Johansson in some Hollywood movies.
Johan Abraham played an awesome villain – he was so powerful and ruthless! But they also gave him a backstory so you understood where he was coming from. When Salman Khan had his cameo, the crowd went nuts. He and SRK rocked an epic fight scene that all the action fans loved. Dimple Kapadia brought real emotion to her role. and Asutosh Rana was hilarious as the weak boss Colonel Luthra – he totally relied on his right-hand man Pathaan to get anything done. All in all, it was an awesome movie!
Final Verdict
Pathaan looks like it has everything it needs to be a blockbuster Hindi film. It has action, scale, emotion, music, and the return of superstar Shah Rukh Khan in a big, larger-than-life role. It’s been a while since he had a part like this. Pathaan is ready to light up the box office and set new records, not just on opening weekend but for its total earnings too. This movie is shaping up to be a guaranteed blockbuster hit. It’s also setting up a new spy universe from Yash Raj Films with characters like Tiger, Kabir, and Pathaan.
