The eagerly awaited trailer for Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups is finally out and it seems the actor is set to introduce viewers to a much darker and more unpredictable world than they’ve known him in before.
At the helm of the film is director Geetu Mohandas, who takes the audience to a dark world filled with crime, power, betrayal, internal feuds and violence as Yash portrays the main character, Raya. The trailer is over four minutes long, and provides a few tantalizing shots at Raya’s complicated journey without revealing anything too significant just yet. One of the most dominant topics is the fact that Yash also has two different appearances in the film and the trailer suggests a more complex father-son relationship then originally thought with a feud that may be one of the major emotional points of the movie.
While Yash’s character in the KGF films was more of a big man with superpowers, Toxic seems to be dealing more with a character with layers and a more complex moral stance and Raya is saddled between his actions, relationships and ambitions, and the violent world around him. The trailer also shows off the film’s amazing women cast which comprises of Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth as Mellisa, Ganga, Nadia, Rebecca and Elizabeth respectively.
Yash also said that Tara’s character grew in size while the film was being produced, which has given rise to interest in her role. The film is set in Goa in the years before they gained independence from the Portuguese, but it also has a fictional gangster story, so it’s not a typical Indian action movie. The visuals are well done, very atmospheric, the production design, the costumes, action sequences and the music by Ravi Basrur enhance the darkness of the film. The trailer also shows some daring moments, such as the one with Yash where he is shown in the nude which has already won praise from viewers online.
Toxic is written by Yash and Geetu Mohandas, directed by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, and has cinematography done by Rajeev Ravi and music by Ravi Basrur. It will be released across the globe on August 26, 2026, and will also be dubbed in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. Yash has returned to the big screen after KGF Chapter 2 and the trailer definitely has high expectations. But Toxic isn’t just another mass-action movie. It looks like it’s going for something darker, stranger and more ambitious – and whether or not Geetu Mohandas can bring this quirky world to the big screen is one of the biggest questions for the film
